Chinatown & the Chinese Zodiac
Location: 218 Center Street, 106 3rd Avenue SE (Roof top levels)
No one can exactly pin point when and where the Chinese Zodiac originated. Most tie the legend to the Heavenly Stems which were known as the celestial chi and providence. These heavenly stems had correlating Twelve Earthly Branches and were used to understand the mechanism that governed the world and gave order to chaos.
This mural depicts all of that and includes showing human life from birth to death. This mural was done in September 2010 but was unfortunately, vandalized a little over a month after completion. It however did not break anyone’s spirit; within a week, the original artists Kai and Cody along with Dean Stanton, his apprentice Jazmine, and the project coordinator repainted the affected areas.
